www.Slipperyrocknyc.com It's a coming!
It's a coming! My vision for this site is to show what we in NYC animation can do. And I also want to build this up to be a freelance studio. Kind of like a hub for gigs and farm it out to talented people in NYC. I will be starting character animation tutorials using After Effects and Flash on there. There are some great motion graphic and effect tutorials out there already like videocopilot.net. So I think people would really benefit from the character animation ones. Please email me if you want a specific aspect of After Effects or character animation that you would like to learn more about. robert@slipperyrocknyc.com

Music Video In Production
Hey out there! The One Stuck Duck crew is making a music video. This past month we have been working on an animatic as well as the 2 character rigs. Last weekend the guys nearly finished the live action cockpit. The music video is about 2 Robots fighting in the city (there is a bit more to the story but I don't want to give it away quite yet). It will be 3D After Effects character rigs mixed with live action backgrounds as well as live action singers in cockpits driving the robots. The song was done by my brother Josh and his friend Eric. The song is titled TEST from their first album "A Bellow Below". The music and video concept really work well together. This project will be a bit more work then the last two videos. There are a lot more shots as well as effects and other compositing challenges. Please keep checking this blog for more production information.

Blondies, Cats and Beers
The screening of our latest short film Storming the Castle went really well. People laughed at all the right parts. Everyone did such a great job. It looked great and sounded amazing.
QUOTE "Congrats! I thoroughly enjoyed the flick and laughed out loud throughout. It was clever, funny and fun. You are very impressive when you pull together and use your powers for good instead of evil :) Keep it up! Sarah"
Thanks to all for coming out.

After Effects Tutorials
In the very near future I will be making After Effects Tutorial Podcasts. If anyone would like to email me on what they would like to learn about After Effects that would be very helpful. I was going to mainly focus on Character Animation Workflow in After Effects. I am going to do a Coming from Flash to After Effects tutorial as well. I know a lot of Flash animators that don't know AE. It isn't that different of a beast. Emails please!
The Future and the Creative
This new one is a continuation of the first one that we did for the 72hr film shoot. We finalized the idea. We also have a friend who will lend us an HD camera. I am excited about that. I would like this one to look a bit more polished. Check out the first one at 72hr Film Shoot and look for "Talking to Strangers". I have a ring idea. I am building it in Maya and then hopefully I will be able to have someone make a prototype out of it. I know the prototyping stages are a bit expensive. If any of you know someone who does that and can hook me up that will be great. I think it will be made out of plastic instead of silver or gold. But a gold one would be nice to have. I am also kicking around an idea for a pitch. I need to flesh that out a bit more and build a pitch book. I would really love to have my friend Etsu do the character design but I am not up to that point yet.

Emmure Video Premier
Last Friday I met up with my friend Dan, who I have known since elementary school. He used to be the bassist for the band Emmure. The band came out with a video that was featured on MTV's Head Banger's Ball. The party was hosted at The Hawaiian Tropic Zone in NYC. I don't follow the band and I am not a fan on death metal but I am always up for a party. The video also featured some Playboy Playmates. So we get there and a few people show up. A couple of over the top hot ladies show up which I assumed were the Playboy Playmates. I figured that we would have no chance to talk to these girls. But as the night went on I started chatting it up with Bobbi who was one of the girls in the video. I was fun to flirt a bit. I found out a bunch of random info about Bobbi. She seemed pretty cool and she was also really HOT. They played the video on the big screens at the restaurant at around 11pm. Then it was time for me to head out. I had a wedding to go to the next day. Plus I wanted to see my girl and give her some squeeze'ns. It was an interesting night.

72 Hour Film Shoot
This past weekend I participated in a 72 hr film shoot. I was the Technical Director/ Character Rigger. I was pretty sick on Thursday and Friday so I didn't get to be part of the story development of the short. We knew we wanted to mix live action with animation. Friday night the team found out what the theme was; "The First Goodbye" and from that point on we has 72 hrs to shoot, edit, rig, animate, sound design, and mail it in. I should also mention that this was an Asian American film festival so one of the requirements was to have an Asian person play a major role in the film and also play a major role in the production of the film. Here is a link to the last year's films. 72 Hour Film Shoot I had a blast working on this project and I hope to be able to link the film to this blog post in the near future. Right now it needs to stay under wraps.

My first blog entry ever. And I mean EVER!
This is my entry for this year's "3 Feet High" skate deck art show. I haven't given it a title yet. The show will open at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ on Monday June 23rd 2008. It looks like it will start at 7pm till 10ish. It's always a fun time and the food is pretty good. I have been a part of Andrea's shows for the past couple of years. It is a great opportunity to do something that isn't animation. I think I am going to add this to my Cafepress designs soon. For now please checkout: www.cafepres.com/powersanimation
